Setup Jenkins on AWS EC2 Ubuntu Server

In this tutorial, you will learn how to setup a Jenkins on AWS EC2 Ubuntu Server.

Prerequisites:

AWS EC2 Ubuntu instance is running and connected via SSH (Follow here)

Steps to Setup Jenkins on Ubuntu Server:

1. Update all software packages on Ubuntu server.

sudo apt-get update

sudo apt-get upgrade

2. Install Java on Ubuntu server.

sudo apt-get install default-jdk

3. Install Jenkins on Ubuntu server.

wget -q -O - https://pkg.jenkins.io/debian-stable/jenkins.io.key | sudo apt-key add -

sudo sh -c 'echo deb https://pkg.jenkins.io/debian-stable binary/ > \
    /etc/apt/sources.list.d/jenkins.list'

sudo apt-get update

sudo apt-get install jenkins

4. Connect to http://<ec2-server-public-dns>:8080 from your  browser. You will be able to access Jenkins through its management interface.

5. Enter the password found in /var/lib/jenkins/secrets/initialAdminPassword. Use the following command to display this password:

sudo cat /var/lib/jenkins/secrets/initialAdminPassword

6. The Jenkins installation script directs you to the Customize Jenkins page. Click Install suggested plugins.

7. Create a new Admin User and complete the setup.

8. Click Start Using Jenkins.
